Weeding

Combat weeds effectively in Yorkshire with Patrick Wiltshire's weeding services. Maintain a healthy, vibrant garden effortlessly

What's involved

I’ve the equipment and know-how needed to keep on top of the weeds that have an inconvenient habit of popping up all year round.

My philosophy is to avoid the weedkillers as much as I can and get the weeds out by hand, trowel, hoe or fork. This way your pets are kept safe, as is the local wildlife that helps to keep your garden animated and alive.

By weeding mechanically I get to know your surrounding prized plants, and often get a visit from the robin which keeps me company while I work.

How we work

Spring

Here’s when weeds pop up in earnest due to the warming sun and April showers. My trustee hoe will see to the surface weeds, while my trowel and fork will get to the weeds with long tap-roots.

Summer

I’m happy to let nature work with me. A hot summer sun will fry the weeds I hoe on the soil surface. After just half an hour or so after hoeing I’ll simply rake the withered weeds up.

Autumn

I get on top of ground elder in the autumn, getting to the spaghetti underground stems and pulling them out as best I can. This way I’ll keep on top of the ground elder so surrounding plants can thrive.

Winter

Annual weeds like hairy bittercress do well even in the shortest months. You’re safe in the knowledge I’ve got a keen eagle-eye on them though at all times. My hoe is never too far away!

Weeds come in many forms - from carpets of annual weeds on the soil surface to tree seedlings like ash popping up in the wrong place.

As certain are death and taxes, weeds will pop up in your garden. I’ve a good plant knowledge of weeds: how different weeds grow and thrive, plus how they spread. That very much is half the battle in eradicating or managing them.

So rest assured; many years of gardening experience lets me know exactly what plants are weeds and what plants you want to keep.
